چکیده
Results The isolate was confirmed as E. coli O25b-sequence type (ST) 131 clone of B2 phylogenetic group. The isolate was resistant to all antibiotics tested except sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim and nitrofurantoin and Etest confirmed that it is highly resistant to meropenem, imipenem, ciprofloxacin, cefotaxime and ceftazidime with MIC values of >16 mg/l, 32 mg/l, >64 mg/l, 32 mg/l & >32mg/l respectively. PCR detected the expected sizes of the amplified resistance genes, and DNA sequencing confirmed that TEM-1, the novel SHV-122 GeneBank (GQ290211), CTX-M-15, OXA-1, variant aac (6′)-Ib-cr, tet(A) genes, VIM and KPC were present and it was found to carry a class 1 integron. No mutation was found in gyrA but in ParC a mutation at 520 G to C, with amino acid change 174 Val (GTC) to Leu (CTC) was detected. QnrA, B, S and integron 2 were not present.

defined by susceptibility to all of ciprofloxacin, co-trimoxazole and gentamicin) isolates was low (2.9%, 5/175). PCR and sequencing showed that the only extended-spectrum b-lactamase (ESBL)-producing O25b-ST131 isolate had blaCTX-M-14. Our results showed that O25b-ST131 exhibited a wide range of susceptibility patterns. Similar to previous studies, our findings showed that O25b-ST131 isolates ...
متن کاملThe role of Sequence Type (ST) 131 in adult community-onset non-ESBL-producing Escherichia colibacteraemia
BACKGROUND To compare the epidemiological and clinical features and outcome in clonal group O25b/ST131 and non-clonal group O25b/ST131 in adult patients with non-extended-spectrum B-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteraemia. METHODS We collected 371 consecutive isolates with community-onset non-ESBL producing E. coli bloodstream infection in 2010 in a 1200-bed hospital...

OBJECTIVES The increasing prevalence of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli has been associated with the emergence of the CTX-M-producing sequence type 131 (ST131) pandemic clonal group, a member of the O25b serogroup and the B2 phylogenetic group. To assess the clonal spread of ESBL-producing E. coli in Japan, a regional surveillance programme was conducted. METHO...

OBJECTIVES The objectives of this study were to determine CTX-M-producing Escherichia coli ST131 strain prevalence in stool specimens from healthy subjects in central China and to molecularly characterize clonal groups. METHODS From November 2013 to January 2014, stool specimens from healthy individuals in Hunan Province were screened for ESBL-producing E. coli using chromogenic medium and CT...
متن کاملThe revolving door between hospital and community: extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli in Dublin.
BACKGROUND Escherichia coli that produce extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) are an increasing cause of healthcare-associated infection, and community healthcare facilities may be a reservoir for important epidemic clones. AIM To characterize retrospectively and investigate the epidemiology of ESBL-producing E. coli collected in a Dublin hospital, during 2009 and 2010, and to investigat...
